{The One Where She Learned To Be A Better Friend}

Hello - Cherie from Bakow Babble guest posting here today. Victoria and I are bloggy friends - but amazingly enough we both have sons at BYU and they have met - Go figure! I love this woman - she is talented, spiritual, beautiful, an amazing mom/missionary mom, cook and if you didn't know, keep scrolling down because, she has incredible musical talent as well! AND you have the opportunity to get her new CD - You are one of the first to know because you are here!!

My topic today has nothing to do with that though, it is about becoming a better friend through food, or rather the lack of it!

This has been troubling me for some time.

There's nothing worse than looking in the mirror three quarters of the way through your day and seeing some huge shredded piece of green nastiness lodged between your two front teeth. You think, "For the love of all that is holy, how long has THAT been there?!"

You begin recounting the events of your day - all the people you've had face-to-face conversations with.
Why did they stay silent? Surely they saw it. You think, "Good grief, if I'd sat any closer to them they could have taken a bite of it!"
How could they let me just keep on about my day without telling me that there's an entire crop of romaine lettuce protruding from my face?
People.....
Please.....
Friends don't let friends walk around with food in their teeth.
So the next time you seem some poor, clueless person walking around with a vegetable garden sprouting from their two front teeth, do the right thing and tell them about it.

Cherie, if that was you in that picture, I would have very kindly taken you aside... averted my eyes as subtly as I could, and told you the truth. That your hair is a shocking shade of pink, and that it clashes with the rest of your accessories (politely not mentioning that one of your accessories was a whole head of romaine lettuce). I'm sorry... I am one of those stay-silent people sometimes... I will try to do better! ;-)

Hi, Victoria ; ) BTW, I have a son who is a freshman at BYU

Out of curiosity, where in the world did you get the picture--PERFECT ; )

It has to be a good friend for me to say something, but I know next time this happens I will think about this post.

I remember one day after teaching Seminary I came home and looked in the mirror and realized my hair was sticking up in the back. I asked my son, who was in the class, if he noticed it. I asked him why he didn't say anything and he said, "Because I didn't want to embarrass you." I told him it's more embarrrassing now to realize I taught the whole class with my hair like that ; )

Hello Victoria....Cherie, this post made me laugh! "For the love of all that is holy", OH MY WORD that was funny.

I've had this happen so often, I'll go out of my way to let someone know if they have something to be embarassed about. I know all to well what being embarassed is! Infact I've got the BEST story of a woman that needed intervention. It's a long story. I'll save it for a post one day!!!
Great guest post. And nice to meet you Victoria.

Now I feel like I should keep a small hand mirror with me at all times and check my OWN teeth. I'm certainly not going to depend on someone else.
I have a sister that always asks after we eat out if she has something in her teeth. Maybe we should all practice that.

Hello Victoria!

Oh Cherie you truly are funny. I didn't even know you were guest posting. I guess I should check blogs a little more often. Sorry friend.

I'm sorry, I am not the kind to tell a friend if they have guck in their teeth. I would tell my mama or my children but not friends. Is that rude of me?

So funny...the same goes for boogers in, on, or around their nose...if there is a bat in the cave...let them know! Heehee!

Cherie, Sorry I did not comment earlier. On guest blogs I never know if the comment is for you or for the person's who blog it is. I hope that makes sense.

Anyway... it was very witty indeed. I had the terrible accident of having poppy seeds in my teeth after eating a muffin - go to the store and bank. Since I'm always smiling with my teeth - there were black dots every where. I was embarrassed!

That is one reason I started flossing in my car - I never want to go anywhere again without checking my teeth in the mirror first. Yikes!

so embarrassing when that happens..i usually do tell people and always tell friends when they are the victim of such situations.

I always do this, and I fully expect others to do it for me. I will also tell you if you have a gigantic booger hanging at the edge of your bat cave. PLEASE DO IT FOR ME!!

(PS- my ex-SIL said that my BIL had a huge boogie in his nose while they knelt across the altar on their wedding day. Can you imagine?! I've always wondered if it contributed to her having an affair and leaving him.)

Well, I should have read this earlier today. When I was at the store, there was a lady wandering around with her pants unzipped. Actually, I did try to stop her, but she was in a rush and I didn't want to run through the aisles and tackle her! That would have been weird!
Cute post!

Hi Victoria - LOVE your guest poster!!! HI CHERIE! I'm with Sondra - I read this earlier and didn't know if I comment to Victoria or if you'd read them or how it all worked - I hope that makes you feel better because of course I wouldn't miss it and when/if we ever meet, I feel safe in knowing my teeth will be Romaine-free because of you, dear friend ~ ♥

That is so funny! I've never had a problem telling someone they have something in their teeth or even a booger in their nose.... It can be embarrassing for the person... but hey! I would want someone to tell me! They always end up saying Thank You.

Great post Cherie !

I will let people know quietly about:
Boogers in the nose, slips showing, food or lipstick in teeth, smuged makeup, flys open ( if my Hubs is around, I tell him to say something, if not I hope some other man will 'cause I won't )tag hanging out, lint, NOT dandruff ( Ick, can't stand that so I get away ASAP.) LOL

THis is one of those things I have to work on a bit. I always feel so bad telling somebody something like that. I hate causing distress or embarrasment, or drawing attention to those sorts of things. But of course, it's much worse to go around all day like that, and you're always grateful when someone lets you know about it. sigh. I'll try to do better. Thanks Cherie!
BTW, hi there Victoria. It was nice stopping by your blog.

Hi Victoria! I am enjoying your blog thanks to Cherie. I enjoy her blog too.
Uh, I am afraid I would have NOT told Cherie about the green stuff blaring from her teeth. I would have just gotten into my purse and given her some dental floss from my ever present supply.
I'm sutle like that.

Hi Victoria!! I have listened to a few of your songs and I like them. As for Cherie's post, no, I do not allow my friends to have food in their teeth. I will be the first to point it out. It is what a good friend does! -Suzanne
