The One With the Baby Bruin

My grandson Jif (yes, it is an alias…it would not be right to name a child after peanut butter, even if it is the one choosy mothers choose) has finally reached a decision about which law school to attend. Well, okay, it is actually his parents, Josh and Jessi… and they based it solely on proximity to Disneyland. Yes…it’s UCLA Law School!

Proximity to Disneyland may not have been the only factor. It seems that UCLA slid in at the last minute with a scholarship offer that was so good it even beat out Univ. of Texas Austin by a few thousand. Tuition at UCLA Law School is $43k a year, and Josh received scholarships that bring the tuition to $11k a year. And it doesn’t hurt that they will only be an hour away from us. Unless it is 3:00 p.m. on a weekday…then it is more like three hours.

I’m going to take credit for this one. For all of it. For the scholarship offers, the acceptance letters…everything. I ate really well when I was pregnant. Face facts: it’s not like he just got that smart all by himself.

I adore the name Jif. How cute. And yes, choosy mothers do choose Jif. So funny.

I hope all the decision making worked out for them. How fun to be so close.

Jif just seemed like the natural choice to go with Skippy:)

That Baby Bruin doesn't look so happy in that picture.

Also, my word verification is "sconcing." FYI, that refers to when you ice something like a cake, but with scones instead of frosting (scones + icing = sconcing).

I remember taking that picture...and the funny part was, that Skippy was holding him, he was crying, and you and Jes were blissfully eating cereal out of giant bowls, as if it was no big deal that a five-year-old was letting your two-day-old baby sort of hang, head-down from his lap. Relaxed parenting. Very rare in first-timers... ;-)

Oh, and your dad (DK) says that sconcing is the same as hanging draperies. Which is not true. It is actually installing wall-based light fixtures.

Oh no! Jif is doomed. All I ate during my pregnancy was Flintstones vitamins and Gatorade.

Being the Disney-Freak that I am I think that choosing a law school based on it's proximity to The happiest place on earth is as good a reason as any...Oh the money doesn't hurt either. In fact, that is AWESOME!! They must be so excited!!

Cute little grandbabies you have there- I am looking forward to joining that club!! :D

Just because I haven't taught Laurels in a few weeks does NOT mean I have had SUNDAYS OFF. I don't even know what that MEANS. Sunday off...what would that even look like?

Congrats to them. And the scholarships are sooooo helpful. It makes a BIG difference. The next 3 years will go by in a blink. Our Josh graduates next week!

So does everyone get peanut butter names?

I request to not have the name 'goober' I am not a fan of the jelly peanut butter mix. one of the younger brothers can also have the name peter pan, too many funny names to go with that one, all but pan. Pan is a good name for any of the mischievious ones, myself included.

I am aware that smuckers is the real name for goober but who wants that either.

Reese's was also taken out by you posting about the weasel butt incident. Reese may work. Yay malcom in the middle.

I think that you have a lot of thinking to do to insure that at least 2 more of your children recieve admirable blog-nicknames.
